The Bible is just a bunch of words. The words Love God and love your neighbor as yourself, is simply, just a bunch of words.
I am guilty. I am so extremely guilty of trying to theorize the Bible and find the “perfect” theology. But, here’s the thing, number one, I’m not brilliant ( I could make an attempt at it, but, I’ll clearly fail). Number two, I’m screwed up. I have a past that to the day causes me grief and shame and guilt and anger and anything bad. Thank God, that he’s a loving God. Thank Jesus, that he’s the prince of peace and is trying to embody that into me.
The Bible should stir something into us when we read it. The idea of loving your neighbor is nice. The incarnation of loving your neighbor is better. The idea of serving the poor is great. The incaration of serving the poor is where we actually see Jesus.
I’m not saying its true, but, without incarnation of what it actually says, is it just merely a philosophical book with nice ideas? Ideas, without actions are worthless. Our actions become who we are, but, we don’t become our ideas. Ideas can shift our actions, but, unless we incarnate them, what good is that? Is Jesus just a theory or an idea? Or was he the incarnation of God?
