One of the hardest things for me to live in is a world of such negativity and cynicism. Our society is trapped in our world of victimhood and self-degradation. If we build our world on such a negative foundation, all we can do is produce negative results. People who are filled with negativity, cynicism, victimhood and self-degradation, know little to nothing of God, Self and society because all they are able to see is their tiny narrow vision. They don’t have eyes to see or ears to hear because they have built their world on a false foundation, a false humility.
When we live in our false self, the identity we build for ourselves, all we are capable is producing rules, legalism, either/or and polarized thinking and this isn’t bad, its necessary. We can’t get to the true until we discover the false. This is the sin and shame that has separated us from God. So we build the false (even within spirituality and religion, I do this all the time) as a means to be affirmed, to justify that we are loved, that we are worthy. But, when we learn to die to this petty self, when we realize our nothingness, we finally begin to find God. Even better we begin to find God in ourselves! And, then our nothingness doesn’t feel so little because our nothingness doesn’t beat us up. Our nothingness doesn’t do this because we are truly content with God and God in me. This is why human beings don’t have to be viewed negatively. They are viewed in the image of God.
This creation is saturated in God’s DNA (Romans 1), Human Beings are made in the image of God (Gen 1) and God says all these things are very good. So human beings must be seen as very good and this creation is very good because God sees it that way. And, when people sin, when we sin, we can repent, die to ourselves, laugh it off and move on. I don’t have to view myself and others so negatively because it’s all covered in God and that’s good news. And, we begin to open ourselves up to God, to ourselves and the world and we can begin to love everything. We can begin to receive God in all things, even when we ourselves and others try to mask themselves with their false-self.
This is the beautiful, positive message of life. God is pouring himself in all things and if we can be present to life, we begin to find God in the smallest of places.
