Psychologists say that around the age of 15, something switches in the human brain that tells the person that they need to be a part of something. They need to start a revolution. They need to be a part of something greater. The problem is that when your audience and community is also your fellow 15-year-olds, you can’t really be a part of something greater. No 15-year-old is going to be able to reveal to you something bigger, something better than what is already right in front of you. This is why young men and young women need mentors. They need someone to reveal to them the thing that is actually greater. They need someone who can reveal to them not only the issues of sociological development, but also help them start on the inward journey that leads us to personal growth and development.
