  1. There are so many issues with this video. First, when Jesus and John the Baptist interacted with soldiers, they never told them to quit being soldiers. I’m not saying that Christians ought to walk around killing or threatening every nonbeliever, but we have to accept that Jesus never told Christians violence is always wrong.

    Also, I have grown so weary of this mindset that Constantine, Augustine and others ruined the Church. It wasn’t until after Constantine that Canon was closed. It wasn’t until after Constantine that the divinity of Jesus had form of explanation. This speaker has clearly not read the early church material from after the time of Constantine. So many of the church leaders deplored violence except in extreme circumstances. Also, the sword was not categorically taken up to spread the faith until Charlemagne in the ninth century. Prior to that there were no Empire wide Christian wars against nonbelievers.

    It is people like this speaker who cause Protestants to hate the early church, Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy. I have very little patience for this kind of mindset.
