When I look at Jesus, I see a man who views the world differently than we initially do. When we look at potentially the most important teaching of Jesus, the Sermon on the Mount, we see someone who teaches from a counterintuitive level. He doesn’t teach that blessed are you who are the rich, who have it all together, and “get it“, he teaches blessed are you who are broken, who suffer, who are walking through the Valley of the Shadow of Death.
If Jesus were physically walking in America today, I wonder if he would be walking alongside the protestors saying, “Blessed are the 99%, for the 1% will have to walk through greater obstacles to receive what you have already inherited.”
If Jesus were physically walking among us, I wonder if he would say to Charlie Sheen, “Blessed are your losses, because you are already winning.”
